Abington Ice Hockey Members Collect Post-Season
Honors
Several members of the 2003-2004 Abington Varsity
Ice Hockey team continue to collect post-season
honors placing an exclamation point on what can only
be termed a very successful season. The Ghosts
completed their second consecutive undefeated league
season and second consecutive undefeated league
playoff championship run. The Ghosts have not lost
in league play in 50 games over the last two years.
- Senior captain Justin Schorr, senior Eric
Tufman, senior Dom Serratore and
junior Ian Cooley were each placed on the
Suburban High School Scholastic Hockey League (SHSHL)
First All-Star team. This is the first time in
Abington Ice Hockey history that the Ghosts
filled four of the top six All-Star slots.
Additionally, this is the first time in SHSHL
history that one team was so dominate. This is a
reflection of the Ghosts two-year undefeated
record in the SHSHL (46-0-4) since 2002.
- Breakaway!

players their post-season All-Area All-Star teams.

Player of the Year.
finished the season as the
SHSHL’s leading scorer with 74 points in only 25
games. Eric Tufman finished the season as

All-Star team made up of juniors and seniors which

teams from across the country in the prestigious
Chicago Showcase Tournament. Ian Cooley

was Team Philadelphia’s leading scorer and was
second overall in the entire tournament.
- Justin Schorr
and Eric Tufman were
named to the Scholastic Play by Play Network’s
First Team All Area for ice hockey. The Award
banquet, held June 15, 2004, honors student
athletes from the Philadelphia and South Jersey
region who have excelled in their sport during the
2003-2204 season.
COOLEY AND HIS CLUB TEAM HEAD
TO NATIONALS
The Abington Ice Hockey
organization extends its best wishes to Ian Cooley
and the 17U Jr. Flyers in their quest for a national
title. The 17U Jr. Flyers advanced to the Nationals
in Marquette, Wisconsin as the Atlantic District
representative. Everyone associated with Ian knows
he is a quality person and player. We hope he and
his team have a successful tournament.
Abington Places three in the Eastern Pennsylvania
Top 25 List
Pennsylvania Hockey has placed three Abington
Ghosts Varsity ice hockey players on their list of
Eastern Pennsylvania’s Top 25 players for
2003-2004. The list includes Senior Eric Tufman who
according to the list possesses "possibly the
best set of hands in the area". Tufman is
having an excellent season, leading the league in
points per game average. Senior Captain Justin
Schorr was listed as "crafty and
unselfish". Schorr is also having a banner
season, leading the SHSHL in scoring. Tufman and
Schorr were recently voted the best one-two punch in
high school hockey in this area. Completing the list
was defenseman Ian Cooley described as "an
excellent two-way defenseman". Cooley, only a
junior, has been the best defenseman in the SHSHL
for the last two years. Only one other high school,
the LaSalle Explorers, had as many players on the
top 25 list as Abington. Abington was the only
public school to have more than one player in the
top 25.
