Celebrating
30 Years in the Community
1971-2001
Abington Ice Hockey started in the 1971-1972 season
when the club was known as the Wintersport-Abington
Hockey Club. In those days, the team played
out of the old Grundy Ice Rink in Bristol,
Pennsylvania. There were no residency
requirements for the skaters.
In the 1975-1976 season, the club joined the
Suburban High School Hockey League (SHSHL) and the
Inter County High School League (ICHSL). From
that season on, players were required to attend
Abington Schools. The team also won the Class
AA Championship in 1976.
The club continued to grow throughout the1980's and
1990's to the present. We now have teams at
the Varsity, Junior Varsity 1 and Junior Varsity 2
levels. Our coaching
staff and board
consists of Abington Alumni, educators, and members
of various community organizations. They
volunteer their time to coaching games, arranging
practices, and coordinating other club functions.
